Parents Ministry
Parent Ministry evenings at St Peters aim to create an environment where our parents and carers can come together and do life, eat good food and spend quality time being equipped. These Evenings will aim to gather those who are raising children (grandparents, parents, carers) and input into their lives via a short talk on a particular aspect of parenting and then break out into groups to allow for discussion. We will also eat a home cooked meal to kick our time off together.
We understand how difficult a role parenting can be and want to support our parents and carers to flourish at one of the most challenging roles we will ever undertake. Roles such as referee, chef, taxi driver, nurse, mind reader, seamstress, nail technician, hairdresser, court jester and bank manager, are just some of the roles we undertake on a daily basis. It is a role that leaves us second guessing our abilities as care givers and often leaves us feeling inadequate, like we have somehow failed to live up to the high standards of parenting that has been placed upon us- all before we have even considered talking to our children about Jesus.
How do we get the balance right? How do we engage our children in conversations about Jesus? How do we read the bible with our teenagers? How do we get them wanting to come to church?. This is where our parent ministry groups come in – Authentic, Practical and spiritual support from people who are on the same journey as each other- parents raising their children within the Christian faith.
These Groups will allow us to celebrate our wins, Encourage us when we are feeling low, Laugh with us when we laugh, Cry with us when things get hard And allow us to vent about our frustrations as parents without fear of judgement…
They will also be a place where we can share ideas on how to engage our children in faith based activities, such as prayer, bible reading and worship.
